The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Kurenkov said that a government commission had classified the situation with floods in Chechnya and Dagestan as a federal emergency. A federal level of response has been established, the minister said at a meeting of the government commission in Makhachkala. Earlier, a regional emergency regime was in effect there.

Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov said that the third wave of flooding in Dagestan is expected on April 11, a storm warning will be announced in Chechnya and Ingushetia on April 10. More than 60 mm of precipitation is expected to fall in the regions. He warned that the Terek River might overflow its banks.
