The government of Belarus has decided to open an embassy in North Korea. It is planned that it will start working by August 1, 2026.
The decision is formalized by a decree signed by Prime Minister Alexander Turchin. This was done as part of the fulfillment of Lukashenka's instruction after his official visit to the DPRK at the end of March 2026.
The expansion of cooperation between the countries was discussed during that visit, including the opening of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Pyongyang and the possibility of simplifying travel between the countries.
At the same time, it is noted that the North Korean embassy in Minsk is already operating, and the parties have signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation.
