U.S. President Donald Trump said that weapons that were supposed to be given to the Iranian people did not reach their recipients because they were embezzled by middlemen.

Trump made the statement on Fox News.

"We sent some weapons. It was supposed to go to the Iranian people. You know what happened? The people we sent it through kept it for themselves," Trump emphasized.

He added that he was furious over the disruption of the plan and threatened those involved with harsh consequences.

"I'm very angry at a certain group of people, and they're going to pay a heavy price for this," the American leader added.

Separately, Trump expressed the opinion that receiving the weapons could have quickly changed the situation inside Iran. After that, he said, the Iranian people would start to fight back.

"If they had weapons, Iran would surrender in two seconds," he concluded.
