"Middle Eastern Countries Have Reviewed The Policy Of Relations With Russian Federation"

What it gives Ukraine.

The attitude of Middle Eastern countries towards Russia has changed dramatically after Moscow supported the Iranian regime. The Russian Federation has become an enemy for them because it helps Tehran to hit facilities on their territory. This opinion is expressed by Bohdan Popov, an expert of the United Ukraine think tank.

The analyst does not agree with the thesis that the attitude of the Persian Gulf countries to Russia has evolved from neutral to openly negative. In his opinion, it has always been pragmatic.

"I would characterize the attitude of the Middle Eastern countries to Russia not as neutral, but pragmatic. They have always made money on Russians. They help them hide all the corrupt financial flows from the Russian Federation. We understand that Dubai is one of the main international financial centers where all investments go. Why? Because there is very loyal taxation there. And in general, it is the largest logistics center in the world at the moment. That is why everything is going there. And a lot of things went there from Russia, as well as from its satellite countries. Specific money was hidden there. After that, Middle Eastern countries helped the Russian Federation to circumvent sanctions in many ways," Popov noted.

The expert also recalled that the purchase of Russian oil often took place in the Arab dirham, the currency of the United Arab Emirates.

"In principle, wherever you can make money, Middle Eastern countries were present. Where you can make money from China, where you can make money from India, from Russia, from anybody. That is absolutely does not color those who support one side or another, but where there was an opportunity to make money, they participated everywhere," Popov said.

Now the Russian Federation has become a threat to the countries of the Middle East and is frankly their enemy, the analyst said.

"Russia is helping Iran to hit facilities on their territory, and in general, most likely, will soon become involved in the war in the Middle East on a larger scale. Naturally, they have revised their policy of relations with the Russian Federation. And it will not be like before. At least for a very long time," Popov believes.

It is important for Ukraine to "jump into this window of opportunity" and use it for itself as effectively as possible, the analyst added. In his opinion, under such circumstances and active cooperation with the countries of the Middle East, Ukraine will be able to push the Russian Federation out of there.

"We have opportunities for this, we have tools to get a foothold in the Middle East so that it would be as difficult as possible for Putin to get in again. Naturally, President Zelensky, the entire Ukrainian side is very actively engaged in forcing the Russian Federation out of the region and helping our new friends to defend themselves against the Iranian regime and its interaction with Moscow," the expert concluded.
