Trump Wants An Astronomical $1.5 Trillion In Defense Spending

US President Donald Trump wants an astronomical defense budget of $1.5 trillion for 2027. By comparison, in 2025, according to SIPRI, the total defense budget of the entire world, excluding the United States, was $1.8 trillion.

And to achieve such goals, Trump may well be going to use criticism of Ukraine, writes Defense Express.

So, according to Defense News, formally the national security budget will be about $900 billion, but Trump will request additional funding in the range of $400 billion to $600 billion.

This mechanism was already used last year, when Congress added another $150 billion to the $892.6 billion agreed upon in the budget based on a supplemental request.

The money from the defense budget is to go to fund Golden Dome and the construction of Trump's battleships, as well as to increase weapons production and replenish depleted stockpiles.

At the same time, Defense Express experts note: it is the last item that could become one of the main tools for publicly promoting such spending - with the help of criticism of aid to Ukraine.

"Therefore, we should prepare for the fact that Ukraine will soon be hit with streams of accusations. And, of course, they will mention the mythical allegedly provided 350 billion dollars. Although the official figures for all the years of reflection of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation are 67 billion dollars for armaments, another 31.5 billion dollars as direct budget support," experts say.
