Ex-CIA Chief Called For Trump To Be Removed From Power
John Brennan

Relying on the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has called for the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution to be invoked against Donald Trump. That amendment provides for the removal of the president from office if he is unable to fulfill his duties, TVN24 reported.

-"This man is clearly unstable," John Brennan said.

John Brennan, in an interview Saturday with MS Now (formerly MSNBC), said the U.S. president's recent high-profile statements about "destroying Iranian civilization" and, in his view, the threat Donald Trump poses to countless human lives justified his removal from the Oval Office.

- This man is clearly unstable," said Brennan, who headed the CIA from 2013-2017.

- I think the 25th Amendment [to the US Constitution - ed.] was written with Donald Trump in mind," he added.

In a conversation with Ali Velshi, Brennan also noted that the US intelligence analysis presented to Trump regarding Iran's possible response to the attack was generally correct. He added that only the president's "narcissism and megalomania" led him to disregard it.

Brennan said Trump poses too great a threat to lead the military and be in charge of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. The former CIA chief believes the recent threat to destroy Iranian civilization implied the possibility of using nuclear weapons.

How many Democrats want Trump removed?"

Brennan is not the first to publicly say Trump is unfit to serve as president. The 25th Amendment was previously called for by Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, among others. According to recent reports from NBC News, more than 70 Democrats in Congress have made such a call.

Some Republicans and individuals formerly associated with the MAGA movement also support such a move. Among them are conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and former Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green.

The fourth section of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution outlines the procedure to be invoked if a president is unable to perform his or her functions but does not want to voluntarily resign. To invoke the 25th Amendment, the vice president and a majority of the cabinet must declare that the head of state is incapable of performing the duties of office. This opinion must be notified in writing to Congress.

The Guardian notes that the likelihood of invoking the 25th Amendment is currently slim, given the loyalty of Vice President J.D. Vance and Trump's cabinet members.

The newspaper also recalled that Brennan has been the subject of a U.S. Justice Department investigation "as part of the president's retaliation against his perceived enemies." In March, the head of the House Judiciary Committee and Trump ally Jim Jordan said the investigation was "gaining momentum."
