U.S.-Iran Talks Deadlocked

Because of the Strait of Hormuz.

On Saturday, April 11, talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan stalled over the issue of control of the Strait of Hormuz, reports Financial Times.

Sources said discussions on reopening the strait remain a stumbling block. The reason is positions.

In particular, Iran insists on maintaining its control over the waterway and charging fees to ships passing through it.

In addition, Iranian negotiators are abandoning ideas of "joint control" despite a high-level meeting between US Vice President J.D. Vance and Iran's wartime leader Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

One of the sources added that the negotiators are now holding a working dinner followed by technical discussions later that evening.
