US President Donald Trump has said that the Strait of Hormuz will "open up pretty soon". This is reported by Reuters.

Trump said the Strait of Hormuz, strategically important for the world's oil supplies, should resume full operations soon.

"There are other nations using this strait. So there are countries that will join and help...It will not be easy, but I think we will ensure its opening quite soon," he told reporters.

Earlier, announcing an agreement with Tehran on a temporary truce and the start of negotiations, Trump said that Iran had promised to open passage through the Strait of Hormuz. However, in practice, the situation in the region has not yet changed significantly.
