Donald Trump has given the delegation clear instructions.
Before flying to Pakistan, US Vice President J.D. Vance, who is leading the US delegation for talks with Iran, said, "If the Iranians want to negotiate fairly, we are willing to extend an open hand. If they try to play games with us, they will see that the [U.S.] negotiating team doesn't respond well to that," writes Bild.
Vance said Donald Trump has given the delegation "pretty clear instructions" on how the talks should proceed. The vice president did not disclose details and did not respond to reporters' questions, but expressed hope for a positive outcome.
Afterward, Trump himself threatened Iran with more sweeping strikes in an interview with the New York Post: "We're loading the ships with the best munitions, the best weapons ever made - even better than the ones we've already used. If we don't get a deal, we will use it. And we will apply it very effectively."
The US president called it a "restart" of the military operation. In Truth Social, he wrote in large letters, "THE MOST POWERFUL RESPONSE IN THE WORLD!"
