Ukraine Has Made A Breakthrough

Russia, on the other hand, does not have enough missiles for air defense systems that fight "small aircraft".

In recent weeks, the AFU has significantly increased the number of UAVs at the front and in strikes on the rear, increased their range and are applying new technical solutions, military observers and Z-bloggers write. "We can explain" tells what this quantitative and qualitative leap means

Quantity

Now one Russian attack drone on the front can be attacked by 10-12 FPV-drones of the AFU, last summer there were 4-6. Because of this, losses are growing: "companies are melting like snow under the sun." In some directions, the AFU has a fourfold advantage in the number of UAVs. In 2026 Ukraine plans to produce 7 million drones.

Range

"Death zone" has increased to 40-50 kilometers from the front: at this distance now drones hit vehicles, and barrage munitions can fly up to 100 kilometers away. "The installation of anti-drone nets on the Donetsk ring road is a marker that things are serious."

Technology

The AFU has begun using a new generation of drones. The all-weather, high-speed "Martian" model has a longer range, is not detected by detectors, is protected from EMP and presumably aims itself at a target with the help of AI. "Operating both day and night, they are not heard until the last seconds."

Long-range strikes

In March, Ukraine launched more long-range drones than Russia for the first time in the war. At the same time, March was also a record for the number of Russian drones launched.

Starlink over Russia

Starlink satellite terminals, which are used to control Ukrainian drones and transmit data from them, now operate over Russian territory. This allows operators to point UAVs at targets in real time. The work of Starlinks has already been evidenced by at least 4 cases when the AFU received video from drones or controlled them over the Russian Federation. Previously, the terminals worked only on Ukrainian territory.

Deficit of air defense missiles

The Russian army lacks anti-aircraft missiles, especially to the Pantsir complexes - they are the ones used to fight drones. "It is not uncommon for vehicles to be standing around without a BC [ammunition kit] or with an incomplete BC. <...> they see the targets, technically they can hit them, but with nothing!!!" It is impossible to quickly increase the volume of missile production.

Anonymous information is circulating on Z-channels that Belousov, in his report to Putin, called the situation with the superiority of Ukrainian drones critical. Z-bloggers themselves blame the new unmanned forces commander Yuri Vaganov, a general nicknamed "Unitaz" (before his military career he was a plumbing dealer), for falling behind the enemy.
