An Adviser To The Supreme Leader Has Been Killed In Iran

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi, who was a senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, was killed during a US-Israeli military operation in the Middle East. This was reported by Iran's state-run IRNA news agency. According to IRNA, Kharazi was critically wounded in one of the airstrikes even before the U.S.-Israeli truce was concluded on the night of April 8. Close relatives of the former Iranian foreign minister confirmed his death.

According to Al Hadath TV channel, Kharazi was wounded in an airstrike on April 1. His wife was killed in the attack. Kamal Kharazi was not a conservative, such as Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. He was seen as a moderate politician who favored negotiations with the West. But Kharazi did not call on Iranian authorities to capitulate.

In March, he said Iran was ready for a long war with the United States and Israel. He said the Iranian army would continue to attack U.S. military bases in the Middle East and strategic sites of U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf until President Donald Trump was done striking Iran.
