Greenland's prime minister believes the US has not given up its ambitions for the island.
Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen responded to U.S. President Donald Trump, who called the Arctic island a "poorly managed piece of ice," and urged NATO allies to unite to defend international law, Reuters wrote on April 9.
"We are not some piece of ice. We are a proud population of 57,000 people who work every day as good global citizens with full respect for all our allies," Nielsen told Reuters.
He emphasized the importance of preserving the post-war geopolitical order, including NATO and international law, which are now "being questioned," calling on allies to unite.
The Greenland prime minister also believes Trump has not given up his ambitions for the island.
"I don't see that his desire to take over or control Greenland has been taken off the table," he added.
