Belarusians Argued Over How To Cook Draaniki Properly

Minsk gastrobar asked for the recipe of the main Belarusian dish.

"Right now our cook is arguing with the director about what kind of draniki we need in our institution (we will have Slavic cuisine and of course we need draniki): one is for thin crispy ones, the other for soft thick ones! Help," - such a post, along with photos of variants of the finished dish appeared in the account of Minsk gastrobar "Lampa" in Threads.

A heated discussion started in the comments. Belarusians began to share tips and recipes for cooking draniki. Most commenters agreed that both photos are not real draniki.

"Neither the first nor the second are draniki," wrote one of them.

"The photo is not draniki. Better crispy ones, but on a different grater. Thick ones are usually filled with stuffing - kolduns, potato zrazy," another commentator supported him.

It became clear pretty quickly that there is no universal answer to the question of what one of the most famous national dishes of our country should look like.

"Couch experts. These are also draaniki. There are more than 200 recipes of draaniki in Belarus, depending on the region," wrote the user under the nickname schipcoffffff.

The authors of the post also got the blame for the mistake in the name of the country, they wrote it with the letter "o":

"I hope the wrong name of our country is a bad April Fool's joke?"
