A Gulf Country Is Preparing To Help The U.S. Forcefully Open The Strait Of Hormuz

This may be the first case in history.

The United Arab Emirates is preparing to help the United States open the Strait of Hormuz by force. This could be the first time a Gulf state has become a party to hostilities in response to Iranian attacks.

The Wall Street Journal reports this.

The publication quoted unnamed Arab officials as saying the UAE is lobbying for a U.N. Security Council resolution that would allow such action.

Emirati diplomats called on the United States and military forces in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to open the strait by force, the officials said.

The UAE official said the Iranian regime believes it is "fighting for its existence and is ready to strangle the world economy through the blockade of the strait."

He also noted that the country is actively exploring its military involvement in securing the strait, particularly efforts to clear mines and provide other support services.

Even if the vote fails, the Emirates is ready to join the military effort, the sources said.

The UAE Foreign Ministry said there is a "broad global consensus that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz should be preserved."

Some Arab officials said the UAE is urging the US to occupy islands in this strategic waterway. In particular, Abu Musa Island, which Iran has held for half a century and which the Emirates claim.

Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states are now pitted against the Iranian regime and want the war to continue until it is defanged or overthrown.

Before the war began, the UAE viewed Iran as a difficult neighbor whose political positions did lend themselves to some logic. But since February 28, the regime has shown its true colors.

At the same time, the Emirates' participation in a potential operation carries significant risks, as it could lead to long-term tensions with Iran.

With this background, Tehran has already responded by intensifying attacks on UAE territory.

The intensity of missile and drone strikes has increased dramatically in recent days, with some 50 ballistic and cruise missiles and drones fired.

Iran has also warned that it will destroy critical infrastructure of any Gulf country that supports the forceful operation, explicitly mentioning the UAE.
