Ukraine has managed to achieve release of seven Oshchadbank collectors previously detained in Budapest. This was announced by Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga on his page in X.
"I have already informed the President that we have managed to secure the release of seven Ukrainian citizens who were held in Budapest. They are already safe and have crossed the Ukrainian border. Our consuls have provided them with the necessary assistance. I thank the Foreign Ministry team, the staff of the Ukrainian Embassy in Hungary, as well as law enforcement agencies, government agencies, banks and everyone who helped to achieve their release," Sibiga wrote.
The Hungarian authorities earlier announced their intention to expel the detained Ukrainians. According to them, the men were stopped on two cars carrying large sums of cash - about 40 million dollars, 35 million euros, as well as 9 kilograms of gold.
