The decision came after "establishing the identities" of the detainees.

Seven Ukrainian cash collectors detained by Hungarian tax and customs authorities will be deported from Hungary. This was announced in social network X announced by the representative of the Hungarian government Zoltan Kovacs.

According to the Hungarian authorities, the country's National Tax and Customs Administration has identified seven Ukrainian citizens detained in connection with "the transportation of large amounts of cash and gold through the territory of Hungary."

The administration spokesman said that "the operation was supervised by a former general of the Ukrainian Security Service, and his deputy was a former major in the Ukrainian Air Force."

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga called the actions of the Hungarian authorities "hostage-taking and state terrorism."

It is worth adding that the incident took place against the background of worsening relations between Kiev and Budapest.

The day before, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban threatened to use force to resume Russian oil supplies through Ukraine via the Druzhba oil pipeline.
