The bow and stern of the Iranian Navy's flagship Shahid Bagheri caught fire at the moment of the attack.
The United States Army struck an aircraft carrier of Iran, which is a carrier of attack drones, the Pentagon said. At the same time published a video of the moment of the attack, during which the bow and stern of the ship went up in smoke. The hit target is one of the largest ships of the Iranian Navy "Shahid Bagheri" (IRIS Shahid Bagheri, or "Shahid Bagri"). The Americans noted that the ship was the size of a World War II aircraft carrier, "Focus" wrote.
The Pentagon launched at least two strikes against Iran's aircraft carrier, a video from the U.S. Army showed on the social networking site X. Footage of the attack was captured by a reconnaissance drone, which showed all the details of the destruction of the Shahid Bagheri (also called the Shahid Bagri).

"U.S. forces are not deterred from the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy. Today, an Iranian drone aircraft carrier, roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier, was hit and is now on fire," the U.S. Army Command wrote.
The Pentagon did not specify which Iranian ship was blown up in the video. However, it looks similar in outline to the IRIS Shahid Bagheri, an aircraft carrier for UAV launches.
Iran's War - What Happened to the Shahid Bagheri
In a March 6 memo, the U.S. command did not specify exactly when Iran's Shahid Bagheri aircraft carrier was blown up. However, the incident is mentioned in a March 2 memo. It is noted that the ship was destroyed "in the first hours after the start of Operation Epic Fury".
"Shahid Bagheri" (IRIS Shahid Bagheri) is an Iranian aircraft carrier that was converted from the container ship Perarin (Perarin, IMO number 9209350) in 2022-2024. In its original form, the container ship, which was formerly owned by South Korea, measured 240 by 32 meters. For comparison, American aircraft carriers are exactly one and a half times larger: the Gerald R. Ford is 330 meters long and about 80 meters wide. The essence of the remodeling was that an inclined plane was added to the deck, from which the drones were to be launched. The finished drone carrier was launched in 2024, and in February 2025, the Shahid Bagheri became part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fleet. IRIS Shahid Bagheri's capabilities - the deck accommodates and has the ability to take off helicopters and UAVs. In addition, armament - automatic cannon, eight anti-ship missiles (Noor or Qader with a range of up to 300 km), anti-aircraft missiles Kowsar 222 with a kill zone of 17 km.

What ships Iran lost during seven days of war with the US and Israel
The US command said on March 3 that it had sunk nine Iranian ships, but more defeats were later reported. Focus identified the names of some of the targets sunk (including the aircraft carrier):
IRGC Navy Jamaran - hit in the early days of the standoff;
IRIS Dena - sunk by torpedo near Sri Lanka on March 4;
IRIS Shahid Sayyad Shirazi - footage of the strike appeared on March 5;
IRIS Shahid Bagheri - hit before March 2.
Among other things, the Pentagon released footage of the strike on IRIS Dena. It turns out that a Mk.48 torpedo was used, launched from an unnamed submarine. About 180 sailors were supposed to be on board the Iranian ship: 30-70 were rescued (data varies), the rest are considered missing.
