Reuters: Fire In Russian Ports Was Visible From Helsinki

Russia has stopped oil shipments on the Baltic Sea.

Ukrainian drone attacks on facilities in northwestern Russia have disrupted key oil export infrastructure. According to Reuters, the ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga temporarily halted shipments of oil and oil products after a series of strikes.

Large fires broke out at the terminals as a result of the attacks. Sources said the facility in Ust-Luga was cordoned off and the fire engulfed fuel tanks. No casualties have been reported, but the scale of the fire was significant.

Videos of thick puffs of black smoke over the ports are circulating on social networks. These reports are indirectly confirmed by eyewitnesses from neighboring countries. Thus, the Finnish parliamentarian Heikki Autto said that during landing at Helsinki airport he saw a powerful smoke plume from the direction of Primorsk. He said what was happening looked alarming, although the security situation in Finland had not changed.

The MP also called for stronger sanctions against Russia to limit oil exports without the use of attack drones. Reuters estimated that the attacks on Baltic ports were one of the worst blows to Russia's oil infrastructure in recent years of war.
