The American leader sees a chance to realize the goals of the war through an agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he held a conversation with US President Donald Trump during which the two sides discussed the possibility of a deal with Iran.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a video message from the Israeli prime minister released by his office.
He said Trump believes that the military achievements of Israel and the US can be used to realize the goals of war through diplomacy.
"President Trump believes that there is an opportunity to use the tremendous achievements we have made together with the American military to realize the goals of the war by concluding an agreement - an agreement that will protect our vital interests," Netanyahu said.
At the same time, he stressed that Israel continues military action.
"We continue to strike both in Iran and in Lebanon. We are destroying the missile and nuclear programs and continue to launch serious strikes against Hezbollah," the prime minister said.
He added that Israeli forces recently eliminated two more nuclear scientists and are continuing operations.
"We will defend our vital interests under any circumstances," Netanyahu concluded.
