Germany To Finance 15,000 Interceptor Drones For Ukraine

The production of drones will be organized on the territory of Ukraine.

German company Quantum Systems will provide Ukraine with 15 thousand drones - interceptors within the framework of investments in the Ukrainian manufacturer of unmanned systems WIY Drones. This is stated in the press release of Quantum Systems.

"Production by [WIY Drones] of STRILA interceptor drone, specially designed to intercept fast moving and maneuvering air targets, will be expanded through joint efforts of both companies. Initial production of the STRILA system will be expanded in Ukraine to meet immediate operational needs, and future export of surplus production is possible," the statement said.

Quantum Systems has received an order to supply drones to the Ukrainian National Guard.

The head of the German military company, Sven Krug, said Quantum Systems will help bring the solutions proposed by Ukrainian engineers to the industrial level.

The German embassy in Kiev said drones of the STRILA type will be produced in Ukraine to meet the "urgent needs of the AFU." It said the deal also provides for training, logistical support and further joint development of the UAVs. "Funding [for the project] is provided by the German government," the embassy said in a statement posted on Facebook.
