US-Iran talks and a pause in strikes crashed the market.
Oil prices fell more than 13% on Monday, March 23, after U.S. President Donald Trump said he would order the military to postpone any strikes on Iranian power plants and Iran's energy infrastructure.
According to Reuters.
Brent crude futures fell about $17, or 15 percent, to a session low of $96 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $13, or about 13.5 percent, to a session low of $85.28.
On March 23, U.S. President Donald Trump directed the Pentagon to postpone strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for five days.
On his Truth Social network, he wrote that the U.S. and Iran had held "very good and productive talks over the past two days on a full and final settlement of hostilities in the Middle East."
Trump said the talks would continue this week.
