Infrastructure strikes have been stopped.
Donald Trump has ordered a temporary suspension of possible strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure. He announced this in his Truth Social, attributing the decision to progress in the talks.
The US president said the past two days have seen "very good and productive" consultations between Washington and Tehran aimed at reaching a comprehensive settlement in the Middle East. Amid the "deep, detailed and constructive" dialogue, which is expected to continue for a week, he instructed the Pentagon to postpone any strikes on Iranian power plants and other energy facilities for five days - provided the talks progress well.
Trump also said earlier on March 21 that the US was considering scaling back its military operation in the region and was "very close to achieving its goals."
