Russia Expands Secret Airbase Near Moscow

Satellite intelligence has surfaced.

The Russians have begun large-scale construction of hangars at the Ramenskoye airfield, where Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers are based.

This was reported on the AviVector page in X, where they post satellite reconnaissance data of airbases. It showed photos of Ramenskoye airfield.

Author notes that new hangars and expanded parking lots for Tu-160, Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 aircraft, which carry nuclear weapons and missiles for strikes on Ukraine, have been recorded at the Ramenskoye airfield near Moscow.

According to the images as of March 15-19, 2026, active work is underway in the central and southern parts of the airbase.

Satellite images show that in the center of the airport the installation of structures measuring 110 by 77 meters has begun. Such dimensions make it possible to completely hide strategic missile carriers from visual observation and protect them from debris attacks.

In addition, in the southern part of the airfield, the preparation of new sites for basing aircraft was observed. Similar work was previously recorded at the Engels-2 airbase in the Saratov region.

Building carriages and warehouses for materials have already been installed on the territory.

AviVector investigators also identified the presence of the enemy's main strategic aviation forces:

Tu-160 (White Swan): 3 units (one of the aircraft was moved or left the airfield between March 18-19).

Tu-95MS: 1 unit.

Tu-22M3: 1 unit.

The Ramenskoye airfield borders the city of Zhukovsky and the international airport of the same name, making this military facility part of a major aviation hub near the Russian capital.
