Ukraine And Persian Gulf Countries Received Special Privileges From Berlin

Germany has decided to radically change the rules of the game on the arms market.

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection has officially introduced a "green corridor" mechanism for the export of air and sea defense systems.

The German Ministry of Economics and Energy reports.

From now on, Ukraine and six Gulf states will be able to receive German weapons without the grueling wait for each individual application.

This decision, made by the government of Olaf Scholz, actually removes the main bottleneck of German exports - bureaucracy. Previously, German defense concerns such as Rheinmetall or Diehl Defence had to obtain an individual permit for each screw in an air defense system, which delayed critical deliveries for months.

What does a "general license" mean?"

The new temporary mechanism, which will be in place until September 15, 2026, introduces a general export license. This means:

Speed: Manufacturers will be able to award contracts and ship equipment almost instantly.

Predictability: Germany's partners can plan defense without fear of a sudden veto of another tranche of spare parts.

Air defense priority: The simplification applies above all to sky defense and maritime security equipment.

Geopolitical Alliance: Ukraine next to the sheikhs

The list of states covered by this privileged treatment includes:

Ukraine (as a key ally in Europe).

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.

This choice of countries is not random. Berlin explains that this will allow it to respond more quickly to common threats - above all drone attacks and missile terror attacks, which both Ukrainian cities and strategic facilities in the Gulf region face.

Control by new standards

Germany is not abandoning oversight, but making it more effective. All deliveries will continue to strictly comply with EU legislation, but the focus is shifting from paperwork to the real result - the safety of partners.

It is expected that this step will allow Ukraine to build up the number of IRIS-T systems and related equipment much faster, which is critical in the face of constant air attacks.
