Boryslav Bereza: Putin's Party Got Scared
Borislav Bereza

A struggle in the Kremlin may be behind the scandal surrounding the Z-blogger.

Z-blogger Ilya Remeslo, who has served Putin's system for years, suddenly declared that it was time to "chase Vladimir Putin down" and try him as a war criminal. He was then referred to a psychiatric hospital in St. Petersburg.

What does Ilya Remeslo's harsh statement really mean? Is it a personal demarche or a signal from the top?

The following questions were asked by Charter97.org to Ukrainian politician and former Verkhovna Rada deputy Boryslav Bereza:

- Remeslo was not just a Z-blogger, he was a resource that the Kremlin clearly used on certain topics. There was not a single post, message or any demarche without the approval of his direct management. I don't know whether he was managed by the FSB or the GRU, but the fact that there is a conflict between the Kremlin's towers has been known for a long time, and the fact that he has been used once again (seemingly in disguise) only confirms the overall situation. Because after his statement he was locked up in a "nuthouse".

But it should also be understood that he was locked up in a "nuthouse" not because he said things that do not correspond to reality, but, on the contrary, for the truth. Because only a madman can speak the truth in Russia. Apparently, that's exactly what they thought in Russia.

So nothing new, nothing surprised. The only thing I can say is that what Remeslo said is actually said by a lot of people in different offices and kitchens. It's just that he expressed what many would like to say themselves. And the result confirms only one thing: Putin's party, which absolutely usurped power, got scared and closed it down.

By the way, there was also some strange comment from Alexander Dugin that "death is not death, after it there will be a beginning," which also raised a lot of questions. I don't know what's going on in Moscow. Perhaps it's another conflict between their branches of government. But in any case, we are rooting for both teams - let them chew each other up.

- Why is dissatisfaction with Vladimir Putin growing even in the Z-media and what can it lead to? Is a conspiracy against Putin within the system possible today?"

- I don't believe in any riots, I don't believe in any uprisings, I don't even believe that shutting down the Internet will lead to that. But the fact that discontent sooner or later leads to getting negative power - I don't just believe in this, I'm sure of it. Russian rebellion has always been absolutely absurd, hopeless, but very bloody. Let's see what happens here.

At the moment, different segments of the population are dissatisfied for different reasons. Z-bloggers are dissatisfied that Kiev was not taken in three days. Those who were happy that they could watch the "goyda" and "movement" on TV, are not happy that they started getting hit and that the war came to them. Those who wanted to watch the war on TV found out that they could be mobilized because of debts on microcredits or in some other way.

Society is beginning to lose understanding of why the war, which was supposed to be a "blitzkrieg" but turned out to be a disaster for Russia, was needed at all. Yes, there is a huge number of people (huge for Russia - it's about 30%, if I'm not mistaken) who are ready to continue fighting. But, strangely enough, they are the ones who are ready to continue fighting while sitting on the couch. They are mostly pensioners who cannot be mobilized, but who remember, as it seems to them, the "glorious hours of the Soviet Union" when everyone was afraid of them. Something like that is what they now want to get again. This is nostalgia for the Soviet past, and nothing more.

So we can forget about the uprising, but the fact that discontent among young people is growing is a good thing. It can really lead to change. And it's not even about protest. This is an outflow of population from Russia, an outflow of creative young people from Russia. This is another step towards the degradation of the state. If Russia used to be a geopolitical player, then it became a regional player, now it can become just one of the objects of influence from the big powers - the United States, China or, for example, Ukraine.
