Violence, repression and terror will receive retribution.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys mentioned Alexander Lukashenko while discussing developments in Iran during an extraordinary meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on March 1.
"The safety of our citizens in the conflict-affected states is the most important priority at the moment. Coordinated actions are needed at the EU level to find ways for their return and provide consular assistance," the Lithuanian diplomat said.
According to him, Iran's nuclear ambitions, destructive behavior, openly anti-Semitic policy, constant support for Russian aggression against Ukraine, repression of its own citizens pose a threat to international security and destabilize the entire region.
Budris emphasized that "the events in Iran send a clear message to Putin, Lukashenko and other dictators that they are not eternal, and violence, repression and terror will be retaliated."
"I wish all these problems could be solved with the usual tools of international diplomacy. However, we have seen how Iran has persistently avoided engaging in serious dialog or only imitated it. The Iranian regime has been repeatedly warned about possible consequences," the Lithuanian diplomat said, calling on Iran to immediately stop attacking US military bases in the Middle East, Israel and other countries in the region.
The minister also noted that Europe should use this situation to increase political pressure on the Russian authorities.
