EU Widens Trade Surplus With US

In 2025, the European Union exported €554 billion worth of goods to the United States, while imports from the U.S. totaled €354.4 billion.
This brought the EU's trade surplus with the U.S. to €199.6 billion, European Union statistics service Eurostat reported Thursday, February 26.
Trade volumes increased from 2024, with exports up 3.4% and imports up 4.8%.
More than half of all shipments from the EU to the US (53%) came from five key product groups. Medical and pharmaceutical goods took the largest share with 29% of all exports. This was followed by motor vehicles (7.5%), general industrial equipment (5.9%), electrical machinery and equipment (5.8%) and power equipment (4.8%).
The structure of imports from the US was similarly concentrated, with the five key categories accounting for 52.1% of shipments. Medical and pharmaceutical goods also led the way (17%), followed by petroleum and petroleum products (11.2%), power equipment (9.4%), natural and liquefied gas (7.9%), and other transportation equipment (6.6%).
