Ukraine is becoming a key player in drone technology.
Against the background of the US war with Iran, Ukraine's role in international security is noticeably increasing. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, on a visit to Paris, said that allies are increasingly turning to Kiev for help in the development and use of unmanned systems, writes The Wall Street Journal (translated by Charter97.org).
A year ago, as Zelensky recalled, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Ukraine had "nothing to cover." Today, however, the situation has changed, with Middle Eastern countries and US allies actively interested in Ukrainian experience in countering drones.
The reason for this is the new reality of modern warfare, where the mass use of inexpensive drones such as the Shahed makes the use of expensive air defense systems, including Patriot, economically costly.
Ukraine, having accumulated significant combat experience, has become one of the world's leaders in the development, use and interception of drones. Its experts are already advising foreign partners, helping to adapt defense systems to new threats.
Experts note that until recently Ukraine was seen primarily as a recipient of military aid, but now the country itself is a source of technology and knowledge. This indicates a transformation of the balance in the sphere of military technologies and the formation of new centers of competence.
According to observers, Ukraine's experience may become crucial for future conflicts where unmanned systems, cyber technologies and hybrid methods of warfare will play a key role.
