Russian Fighter Jet Violated NATO Airspace

The Su-30 entered Estonian airspace and did not respond to commands from local air traffic controllers.

A Russian Su-30 fighter jet violated Estonian airspace and did not respond to commands from local air traffic controllers.

This is reported by ERR.

It is noted that on Wednesday, March 18, in the afternoon near the island of Vaindloo, a Russian Su-30 fighter jet entered Estonian airspace and stayed in it for about a minute.

An Italian Air Force unit stationed in Emari as part of the NATO mission to protect the airspace of the Baltic States responded to the violation of the air border.

According to the Estonian Air Force, the Russian fighter jet lacked a flight plan and two-way radio communication with the Estonian air traffic service.

After the incident, the Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian Federation's Charge d'Affaires to protest and deliver a note regarding the airspace violation.

Tallin adds that this is the first violation of the Estonian air border by a Russian Federation aircraft this year.
