A Swedish National Was Executed In Iran

This was reported by the Swedish Foreign Ministry.

Iran has executed a Swedish citizen who was arrested in June 2025, the country's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said.

She expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased in Sweden and Iran. Stenergard emphasized that the country opposes the death penalty and "condemns its use in all circumstances."

"It is very clear to us that the trial that led to the execution of the Swedish citizen was not legally justified. The responsibility for this lies solely with Iran," the Swedish foreign minister said.

The diplomatic ministry said Iranian authorities arrested the Swede in June 2025. Since his detention, the Swedish side has repeatedly raised the issue of his fate, demanding a fair trial and not to sentence the man to death.
