Lukashenko Hustles Ahead Of Trump's Special Envoy's Arrival

Minsk is in a hurry to solve the issue with Lithuanian trucks.

Prime Minister Alexander Turchin presented Lukashenko the results of the meeting with Lithuanian and Polish carriers, as well as the government's proposals on the situation with the Lithuanian trucks seized by the regime.

It should be noted that today, March 18, the U.S. President's special envoy for Belarus John Cole is to fly to Vilnius. The next day he is expected in Minsk. Lithuania has stated several times that it solves the problem with the arrest of its trucks by Lukashenko's regime through the United States.

Lithuanian trucks and semi-trailers were blocked in Belarus in the fall of 2025 amid the conflict between Minsk and Vilnius over the launch of weather probes with smuggled cigarettes. After Lithuania closed the border checkpoints "Miadininkai" and "Šalčininkai", the Belarusan side restricted the movement of Lithuanian carriers on its territory. Some trucks were forcibly moved to special parking lots. The Belarusian side set a fee of 120 euros per day per vehicle for the storage of equipment.
