Thick smoke rose over the city.
An Iranian drone attacked the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), causing thick smoke to rise over the city, Iran's Nour News reported.
A correspondent for Agence France-Presse confirmed a loud explosion and smoke in downtown Dubai. Authorities in the emirate said one of the buildings suffered "minor damage" due to falling "debris from a successfully downed object." According to them, there were no casualties or injuries. It was not specified what exactly was shot down by the air defense system in Dubai.
The UAE Ministry of Defense did not comment on the incident. According to its data, air defense forces intercepted ten Iranian ballistic missiles and 26 drones on March 12. A total of 1,540 drones, 278 ballistic missiles and 15 cruise missiles have been destroyed since the escalation in the Middle East. Amid regular Iranian attacks, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the country was at war. "The UAE has thick skin and bitter meat - we are not easy prey. <...> I promise them that we will do our duty because we have a duty to defend our kin and our country," the president said.
The US and Israel launched military operation "Epic Fury" against Iran on February 28. Tehran responded to the strikes on its territory by attacking US targets in countries that are Washington's allies in the Middle East. In the UAE, the Burd-al-Arab hotel and the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, as well as the artificial Palm Jumeirah island, where villas of wealthy people are located, came under attack.
Earlier, Iran threatened to attack US- and Israeli-affiliated "economic centers" and banks in the Middle East. In this regard, Tehran advised residents of Middle Eastern countries to stay "within 1 kilometer radius" of potential targets for Iranian attacks. The Tasnim agency, close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), published a list of American companies whose offices and infrastructure in the Middle East could become "Iran's new targets". It included Google, Microsoft, Palantir, IBM, Nvidia and Oracle. Tehran believes that the technologies of American corporations are used for military purposes.
