The U.S. Allowed The International Coalition To Protect Ships In The Strait Of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz is an important route for energy supplies.

It may be up to the U.S. along with an international coalition to provide security for ships in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Treasury Department chief Scott Bessent told Sky News.

"I am convinced that as soon as it becomes militarily feasible, the U.S. Navy, perhaps along with an international coalition, will escort ships. <...> In fact, there are tankers going through right now, Iranian tankers, I believe a number of Chinese-flagged tankers have gone through. So we know that they have not mined the straits," he said.

The movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for energy supplies from the Middle East, has been hampered since the start of the US-Israeli operation in Iran and Tehran's retaliatory attacks on US allies' territories in the Persian Gulf.
