When will Budapest give back the stolen funds?
Hungary will give Ukraine the detained collection cars of Oschadbank, but empty. Budapest named a condition for the return of stolen funds.
The head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office Gergei Gulyasz said this, according to Telech.
The Hungarian National Tax and Customs Service (NAV) said it would return two Ukrainian collection vehicles detained last week, but empty.
At the same time, Gulasz said that "there is no suspicion in the specific case, but the investigation is being conducted in accordance with anti-money laundering rules."
"One thing can be said as a fact: the party had an unprecedented amount of foreign currency and a lot of gold," the Hungarian government spokesman added.
He said that "if there is no reasonable suspicion, the money should be returned to Ukraine."
We will recall that on March 5, two cars of Oschadbank, which were accompanied by seven collectors, were detained in Hungary without grounds.
The cars were carrying 40 million dollars, 35 million euros and 9 kilograms of gold as part of the regular transportation of foreign currency and gold between Raiffeisen Bank Austria and Oschadbank.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry assured that Ukraine will take appropriate measures, including the initiation of sanctions, because of the detention of Ukrainian citizens in Hungary.
The same day Ukraine managed to return seven collectors, but the bank's property is still in Hungary.
