A lot of people got hurt.
On Thursday morning, March 12, there was an emergency accident at an aircraft factory in Irkutsk, Russia, which injured 7 people. About it writes Dialog.UA after monitoring social networks and messengers.
According to the information of the governor of Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev, the emergency accident at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAP) occurred during the preparation of an airplane for departure. The air flow from the engine overturned the equipment for aircraft ground maintenance, as a result 7 people were injured.
Three of the injured were examined by doctors and sent for outpatient treatment, while the rest were hospitalized. The victims have injuries of varying degrees of severity.
At the moment, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant is already conducting an internal investigation to determine the cause of the emergency accident. No further details are available yet. The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is part of Russia's military-industrial complex.
The plant makes Su-30SM2 fighter jets, Yak-130 combat trainers and MS-21 civilian airliners, with which Russia is trying to replace the Western Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
There are no reports that the emergency at the military aircraft plant in Irkutsk could have been caused by a Ukrainian drone attack. But the AFU has previously struck Russian aircraft factories several times.
For example, in 2025, drones attacked the Lukhovitsky Aviation Plant near Moscow, which specializes in the production and modernization of MiG-29 and MiG-31 fighters and is also involved in the development of new military aircraft.
