Chechnya's head condemned Iran's strikes.
Iranian strikes on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other Persian Gulf countries in response to US and Israeli aggression are unacceptable, Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov declared. "From the point of view of military tactics, a retaliatory strike on American bases is an expected response to the enemy. However, it must be clearly understood: strikes on the civilian infrastructure of third countries and the deaths of civilians cannot be justified in any way. Such mistakes are unacceptable," Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.
He declared support for the "older brother" of UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stressing that the Emirati leadership "has never had military claims against its neighbors," but is forced to defend itself after strikes on civilian objects. At the same time, Kadyrov called the US and Israeli military operation against Iran "a treacherous attack in the holy month of Ramadan." In his opinion, in this way Washington and Tel Aviv tried to "drive a wedge into the entire Islamic world." "The aggressors have deliberately provoked Iran into retaliatory actions that draw third countries into the conflict," Kadyrov noted. The head of Chechnya has previously demonstrated a special attitude toward the UAE. According to "Important Stories," four luxurious mansions worth more than $20 million are registered to members of his family in Dubai. One of them is located on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah. Kadyrov has used this villa as Chechnya's "unofficial embassy" since 2014.
The Chechen head has been a frequent visitor to the UAE. In 2021-2022 alone, his private jet flew to the country at least 14 times, Ukrainian Pravda journalists calculated. According to FlightRadar24, Kadyrov's jet was in and around Dubai at least four times in 2023-2024. Kadyrov has also repeatedly accompanied Russian President Vladimir Putin during his official visits to the UAE.
The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Tehran began responding with strikes on Israel and U.S. military bases in Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Jordan and the UAE. The March 10 strikes in the Emirates killed six people and wounded 122 others. The country's air defense forces intercepted eight ballistic missiles and 26 drones.
