Belarusian Skier Wins Gold At The Paralympics-2026
Roman Sviridenko

Roman Sviridenko beat the German and the Frenchman.

Belarusian skier Roman Sviridenko has won the first medal for the country at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. The athlete won the cross-country skiing competition.

In the sprint final in the LW4 category (athletes competing standing with a single lower limb impairment), Sviridenko clocked 2 minutes 35.4 seconds to take first place. Germany's Sebastian Marburger won the silver medal, while France's Benjamin Davier took bronze.

In the women's sprint among seated athletes (classes LW10-LW12), Belarus was represented by Lydia Loban and Valentina Birilo. Both competed in one semi-final heat: Loban was fourth and Birilo was sixth. Since only the top three athletes qualified for the final, the Belarusians were not able to continue the fight for medals.

In the final protocol Lidia Loban took ninth place, and Valentina Birilo - twelfth.

Four athletes represent Belarus at the Paralympics-2026, all of them competing in cross-country skiing.
