Ukraine To Receive Hundreds Of Armored Vehicles And Billions Of Dollars From Canada

At the same time, Ottawa imposes new restrictions against Russia.

On the fourth anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Canadian government has reaffirmed continued support for Ukraine and announced a new package of military, financial and energy assistance.

The Canadian government reports.

Canada's Minister of National Defense David McGinty announced the extension of Operation UNIFIER for another three years to 2029.

As part of the mission, the Canadian military will continue to train Ukrainian soldiers and commanders. The number of Canadian personnel will be increased to better tailor the training to the needs of the Ukrainian military.

Canada has announced $2 billion in military support for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

In addition, Ukraine will receive more than 400 armored vehicles, including:

66 LAV 6 light armored vehicles;

383 Senator armored vehicles.

This should strengthen the AFU's capabilities on the battlefield.

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand has announced an additional $20 million for Ukraine's Energy Support Fund.

The money will be used to purchase equipment to repair and rebuild critical energy infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.

Currently, Canada imposes new restrictions against Russia:

sanctions against 21 individuals and 53 companies;

restrictions on 100 vessels in Russia's "shadow fleet";

lowering the price cap on Russian oil.

The Canadian government says these measures should reduce Russia's financial ability to wage war.

Ottawa says support for Ukraine remains unchanged. Canada will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine to protect its freedom and achieve a lasting peace.
