Details of the tests have become known.
Turkey's Bayraktar Akıncı attack drone has successfully conducted tests in the waters of the Black Sea, destroying an aerial target for the first time using the new EREN munition. The target used was a drone that mimics the characteristics and shape of Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
The EREN munition fired from Akıncı detected the target and destroyed it with a direct hit in the air. A video of the test was published on Facebook by Baykar's technical director Selcuk Bayraktar.
The test was conducted over the Black Sea, near the coast of Sinop. Akıncı took off from the flight center in Çorlu (Tekirdağ province) and traveled about 600 km to the launch zone.
A target was in the air, completely copying the dimensions and flight profile of Shahed drones. The EREN missile captured the target in automatic mode and destroyed it with a direct hit.

The characteristics of the EREN munition
This is a new development of the Turkish company Roketsan, which transforms Akıncı from a purely attack UAV into a drone interceptor. The munition is equipped with a small turbojet engine, allowing it to reach high speeds to intercept aerial targets.
The weapon uses an electro-optical homing head with AI elements for target recognition and acquisition, as well as inertial and satellite navigation (GNSS). The claimed engagement range is more than 100 km and the time in the air is about 15 minutes.
The use of Akıncı with EREN missiles is seen as a more cost-effective way to fight UAVs compared to the use of traditional fighters or expensive anti-aircraft missiles.
The system is capable of independently tracking and engaging dynamic targets, which reduces operator workload and improves accuracy in maneuvering air combat.
