Zaluzhny Made A Statement About His Political Career

The answer was unexpectedly harsh.

Former head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian ambassador to Britain Valeriy Zaluzhny has revealed whether he has political ambitions in Ukraine. He recently gave an interview about his complicated relationship with President Vladimir Zelensky.

This was reported by "RBC-Ukraine" with reference to the ambassador's speech at Chatham House in London.

As Zaluzhny assured, now, during the war, he is not thinking about a career in politics. And he believes that such a question should be taboo at all.

"It is very bad when Ukraine's domestic politics goes to the international level - it should be taboo. As of today, I have no opportunity to think about it," he said.

At the same time, the former head was surprised that his name has been in the news very often lately.

"More often than the weather forecast in London changes. Really. And sometimes - with such creativity that I begin to think that there is a department that every morning wakes up thinking: what does Zaluzhny think today, even if he does not know it himself?" - the ambassador noted.

At the end of 2025, Zaluzhny was leading in polls on the trust of Ukrainians. Together with him in the top of the list were Zelensky and the then head of the GUR Kyril Budanov.

At the same time, Zaluzhny himself has never expressed a desire to go into politics or run for election.
