Washinton is waiting for concrete proposals from Tehran.
The United States is ready to hold another round of talks with Iran in Geneva next Friday if Tehran submits a detailed proposal within 48 hours.
This is reported by Axios.
In Washington, the current diplomatic process is seen as probably the last chance for an agreement that Donald Trump is willing to provide before a possible move toward a major US-Israeli military operation.
The US side is awaiting a formal initiative from Tehran. The president's envoys - Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner - plan to arrive in Geneva on February 27 if the Iranian proposal is received in the coming days.
A U.S. official said that once the document is received, the two sides will be able to move on to detailed discussions on the parameters of a future agreement. Washington also admits the possibility of temporary arrangements as an interim stage before the conclusion of a full-fledged agreement.
In the course of preliminary contacts, US representatives conveyed to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Washington's position on the complete renunciation of uranium enrichment in the country. At the same time, the White House is ready to consider the option of limited or symbolic enrichment, provided that it excludes the possibility of creating nuclear weapons.
Araghchi, in turn, said that the Iranian side is finalizing its own proposal and will hand it over after coordination with the political leadership in Tehran.
