Russia Embarrassed With 'miracle Weapon' To Shoot Down Ukrainian Drones

An important nuance has been discovered.
The Russians earlier this month during the World Defense Show 2026 international defense exhibition in Saudi Arabia unveiled 30mm projectiles with programmable explosion for hunting drones. At the same time, a video of a Ka-52M attack helicopter allegedly successfully shooting down Ukrainian drones with such shells has already surfaced.
At the same time, Defense Express experts noted that despite the claims, no visual evidence of the use of such programmable shells was seen in the video.
But tracers, which programmable shells do not have, but conventional ones do, were repeatedly caught in the frame, analysts note.
"Besides, programmable shells would have to explode on the approach to the drone, and there is simply no sense in mixing programmable and non-programmable shells in one tape. You can also pay attention to the fact that after the first hit, there was an explosion on the site of the drones. This is either the result of detonation of the drone's warhead, or detonation of a conventional 30mm fragmentation-fuzed incendiary 3UOF8 or fragmentation-tracer 3UOR6, because they are quite powerful in themselves," Defense Express explained.
In addition, such programmable projectiles hit the target not with an explosion but with shrapnel that is scattered after detonation, and it is unlikely that it will be able to initiate the drone's warhead, or at least it will not happen every time, as in the video.
So, apparently, the enemy is not yet using the new programmable 30mm projectiles. Instead, they are probably using a band of fragmentation-fuzed 3UOF8 and fragmentation-tracer 3UOR6 to intercept the drones, analysts conclude.
