A new study by analytics service iSeeCars has identified the 25 most reliable yet affordable cars of 2026. The rating took into account the expected service life, average price and annual cost of operation, writes Motor1 (translation - site Charter97.org).
The leader of the list is Honda Civic: at an average price of $27,768 its resource is estimated at 13.5 years, and the annual cost is only $2,058. Slightly behind is the Toyota Corolla with $2,258 per year and a life expectancy of 11.3 years.
Some models show even more impressive longevity. The Mazda3 Hatchback and Ford Ranger last an average of 13.8 years, the Toyota Tacoma lasts 15.7 years, and the record-breaking Lexus IS350 lasts as long as 17 years. However, high reliability often comes with a higher price tag: the Lexus IS350 costs an average of $50,945.
The top ten most profitable models also include the Volkswagen Jetta, Honda Accord, Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda3 Sedan, and Honda CR-V.
Category winners:

Best car: Honda Civic - $2,058 per year
Best pickup truck: Toyota Tacoma - $2,833 per year
Best SUV: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport - $2,523 per year
According to iSeeCars analyst Karl Brauer, buyers are increasingly keeping cars longer due to rising prices, so finding models with the best balance of value and durability is becoming especially important.
The study shows that the Honda and Toyota brands traditionally lead the way, but Mazda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Subaru and Volkswagen are also prominent in the top - a good benchmark for those looking for a reliable and inexpensive new car.
