And told of the attempts on his life.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a question about a potential order to kill Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and spoke about attempts on his life.
The Ukrainian leader told this in an interview with Pierce Morgan.
Morgan asked the Ukrainian president if he would order his security forces to assassinate Putin if given the opportunity.
Zelensky gave an indirect answer, the context of which says - it's not a fact that this assassination would change anything dramatically, because it's more about an already built, entrenched system.
"You know, in their system, I'm not sure that another person wouldn't become like Putin. The same as Putin. That's not the point," the Ukrainian president said.
Attempts on Zelensky's life
At the same time, Zelensky spoke about numerous attempts on his life, most of which were prevented by security services.
"I don't know how many times they tried to kill me. The security services have told me about some cases. I understand that in my country in this difficult period it could push Ukraine to chaos," the head of state said.
He also added that Ukraine's priority now is the army, which first of all gives us the opportunity to defend ourselves.
"But there are other things: businesses that pay taxes; defense production; energy system; water supply; banking system; cyber defense and many other things. All this gives Ukraine an opportunity to defend itself," Zelensky said.
The head of state also explained that in Ukraine's power system, the president acts as an institution that strengthens the state. Therefore, the assassination of the head of state in our country could have quite different consequences.
"The reaction could be different, and the Russians, unfortunately, underestimate the reaction of the Ukrainians. Because we are, I have always said, emotionally different people. And after emotions and attitudes towards humanity always come values. That is why we can understand each other. We can talk to each other. We can fight, as you see, but with different values," - emphasized Zelensky.
