Belarus cannot be lost to Europe.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on the imposition of personal sanctions against Lukashenko. He noted that Russia brought a full-scale war to Ukraine "including from the territory of Belarus, and this is a fact." Still, for a long time Lukashenko refrained from direct actions in favor of Russia.
At the same time, since the fall of 2025, Ukraine has been fixing repeaters on the territory of Belarus that work to support Russian attack drones. This technique helps the aggressor to shell our northern regions: from Kiev and Kievshchina to Volyn region. "These were strikes on the energy sector, on our railroad," the president said.
In addition, Lukashenko continues to play along with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin in his dangerous geopolitical game with "Oreshnik." This is a pan-European threat.
"On the aggregate of all this, we too are changing policy and will respond adequately to the threat. Minsk must understand this. There is this political signal with sanctions. I have instructed to scrutinize all the schemes of Lukashenko and his accomplices. We will counteract more tangibly. And we will work with our partners in the region and throughout Europe, also with global partners, so that they fully realize what they are dealing with when it comes to the regime in Belarus.
Belarus - a country, people, nation - cannot be lost for Europe. But this face, which puts Belarus at the service of Russia, is definitely worth 'losing'," Zelensky said.
