There is some progress in the negotiations in Geneva.
A meeting between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may take place. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine on Wednesday, February 18, citing a source.
According to the agency's interlocutor, during the trilateral talks in Geneva, the military subgroup made progress, while there is no progress in the political subgroup.
"How what the military subgroup has worked out will be implemented depends on the decision of the political subgroup. A meeting at the level of leaders is already necessary. Apparently, this will be the case," the source said.
He also noted that the Russian negotiating team plans to pass this proposal to Putin, as they themselves are not authorized to make such a decision.
February 17, in an interview with Axios, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had instructed the negotiating team to raise the issue of the upcoming leaders' level meeting in Geneva. According to the Ukrainian president, the best way to achieve a breakthrough on the territories issue is to meet Putin in person.
