Surgery could begin in the coming weeks.

The United States is allegedly very close to a decision on a large-scale military operation against Iran, and it could begin in the near future. This was reported by Axios, citing sources.

The sources said that the Trump administration is close to a decision on a large-scale military operation against Iran, which would be closer to a full-scale war than a lightning and "pinpoint" operation in Venezuela.

It would likely be a joint campaign with Israel, but much larger than the "12-day war" in June 2025, when the U.S. struck Iran's underground nuclear facilities.

Trump was close to a decision to strike Iran back in early January after watching the carnage of protesters. However, the administration has since switched to "dual tactics" - trying to negotiate with Tehran over its nuclear program in parallel with a military buildup in the region. Now it doesn't look like the talks will lead to the outcome the U.S. wants.

Two aircraft carriers, a dozen warships, hundreds of fighter jets and numerous air defense systems are already in the vicinity of Iran. In the last 24 hours alone, about 50 more fighter jets have been dispatched to the Middle East.

Some U.S. sources say more time is needed to prepare for the operation. However, one adviser says Trump is already "running out of patience" despite warnings from some team members, and gives a "90% probability" that the operation will begin in the coming weeks.
