During consultations, the parties may discuss the possibility of an energy "truce".
A new round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and the USA has started in Geneva. This was reported by the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and head of the Ukrainian delegation Rustem Umerov. In his Telegram channel, he noted that the parties plan to discuss security issues and humanitarian agenda.
He said that the Ukrainian team has pre-agreed with President Vladimir Zelensky on the framework of work and a clear mandate.
"We work constructively, focused and without excessive expectations," Umerov wrote. - Our task is to maximally promote those solutions that can bring sustainable peace closer."
He also thanked the United States for its involvement and consistent work, and Switzerland for organizing the meeting and providing conditions for negotiations.
Experts believe that during the consultations, the sides may discuss the possibility of an energy "truce." The Kremlin earlier said that this time the delegations intend to consider a "wider range" of issues. Analysts at the U.S. Institute for the Study of War allow for such a scenario, but warn that Russia may try to use a possible moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure in its own interests.
