The Belarusian woman had been working for the security services since 2015.
Ukraine is taking measures for the exchange of Belarusian Inna Kardash, who was detained in Ukraine on suspicion of spying for the KGB. This is reported "Suspilne" from the courtroom, where the appeal against Kardash's arrest was considered on February 16.
According to the publication, the information about the exchange was announced by the prosecutor during the court session. He noted that "measures are being taken to exchange her with the Belarusian side."
"And what, the Belarusian side agrees with the exchange?" - Judge Tatiana Kaganovskaya clarified from him.
"I don't have this information, it's just that there is communication between them now," the prosecutor replied.
With regard to the appeal against Inna Kardash's arrest, the Kiev Court of Appeal rejected it because it considered that Kardash does not have sufficiently stable ties with Ukraine. There is a husband, but Kardash tried to recruit him as well - this also became known at the hearing. According to the prosecutor's office, the suspicions against Kardash are confirmed by the wiretap recordings, as well as the expert examination, which confirmed that Kardash sent secret documents to her handlers. Thus, she remains in custody.
Kardash participated in the session via video link from the pre-trial detention center. In a brief speech, she said that she was not going to run away anywhere, and there were no visas in her passport to do so. Suspilne also asked her to comment on the case, but Kardash declined.
Kardash has worked as a journalist in Ukraine since 2019, first at the 112 TV channel and then at Interfax Ukraine. According to the investigation, since the same year, she was in constant contact with a Belarusian citizen "who carried out confidential cooperation with the Belarusian special services."
In 2025, she signed a contract with the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine and took a job at the coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war. There she photographed secret documents and sent them to a KGB handler, the investigation claims.
The SBU earlier reported that Kardash had been working for the KGB since 2015.
