ISW: This Is The Most Successful Counterattack Of The AFU In 2.5 Years

Ukraine has regained 201 square kilometers of territory in five days.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces regained 201 square kilometers of territory during February 11-15, which was the fastest rate of advancement over the past 2.5 years.

This is reported by AFP, analyzing data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

As noted, ISW experts attribute the intensification of Ukrainian counterattacks to the recent restriction of Russian occupation forces' access to Starlink, which, according to analysts, has caused problems with communication and control on the battlefield.

The piece also states that on February 2, the Ukrainian government decided to create a "white list" of Starlink terminals with mandatory registration and authorization of devices to prevent Russian forces from using the system.

It was previously reported that Russian forces are moving at a slow pace on the frontline in Ukraine, exceeding their "gains," the collapse of Ukrainian defenses is not expected.

Russia's weekly gains between late November 2025 and mid-February 2026 have fluctuated significantly. ISW estimates that at the peak of its advance, Russian forces captured 141 square kilometers in the week of January 25-31, but then the occupiers' advance fell to 74 square kilometers in the past week (February 8-14).
